  • Monday: Seven companies didn't get the memo that markets are closed and are reporting earnings today, including Express Scripts (NASDAQ:ESRX) and Health South.
  • Tuesday: Housing Market Index data will be released at 10:00 a.m. ET, likely setting the tone for the market. Marriott International (NYSE:MAR), and Northeast Utilities (NYSE:NU) will report earnings.
  • Wednesday: Housing starts and producer price data are released at 8:30 a.m. ET. The maker of Sam Adams beer, Boston Beer Co (NYSE:SAM), and luxury home builder Toll Brothers (NYSE:TOL) will report earnings.
  • Thursday: Consumer prices and jobless claims are reported at 8:30 a.m. ET, and existing home sales data will be reported at 10:00 a.m. ET. Nordstrom (NYSE:JWN) reports earnings, providing some additional insight into the higher end retail market.
  • Friday: No major reports or earnings are set to be released.

Monday:  Loews Corporation (NYSE:L) reported earnings this morning and more than 100 small-cap companies will report earnings today.
 
Tuesday: Cliffs Natural Resources (NYSE:CLF), Coca-Cola Enterprises (NYSE:CCE), and Goodyear Tire (NASDAQ:GT) are set to report earnings.
 
Wednesday: Retail Sales and Import / Export Prices will give investors further insights into the state of our economyCisco Systems (NASDAQ:CSCO), Deere (NYSE:DE), and Duke Energy (NYSE:DUK) are among the widely held stocks reporting earnings today.
 
Thursday: GM (NYSE:GM), Molson Coors (NYSE:TAP), Apache (NYSE:APA), and PepsiCo (NYSE:PEP) report earnings
 
Friday: Consumer Sentiment, Industrial Production, and The Empire State Manufacturing report could make Fridays' trading volatile. Campbell Soup (NYSE:CPB) and Kraft Foods (NASDAQ:KRFT) report earnings.

THIS WEEK'S MARKET MOVERS

  • Monday: The 10:00 am. ET factory order report could prove meaningful, especially in light of the weak December GDP report. Clorox (NYSE:CLX), Leggett & Platt (NYSE:LEG), Sysco (NYSE:SYY), and Yum Brands (NYSE:YUM) report earnings.
  • Tuesday: The ISM non-manufacturing report will be in focus.
  • Wednesday: CVS (NYSE:CVS), Penske Auto (NYSE:PAG), Visa (NYSE:V), and Ralph Lauren (NYSE:RL) report today, giving investors a broad view of economic activity.
  • Thursday: Jobless claims will hit the tape at 8:30 a.m. ET, while consumer credit figures will be released at 3:00 p.m. ET.
  • Friday: Over 200 companies will release earnings today, including Moody's (NYSE:MCO) and Entergy (NYSE:ETR). But I expect the 8:30 a.m. ET International Trade Report to be the most meaningful event of the day.
